On Friday, September 11, Newman Church will host a community prayer service of bell ringing and prayers for peace to mark the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
This event changed the world, and the lives of all those who lived through that day. The Newman Church sanctuary doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and will be open for all people to drop-in for any amount of time until the service ends at 12:15 p.m. We will be ringing the historic bells in the church bell tower at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m., to mark the times when four planes crashed.
We’ll also ring the church bells at noon in coordination with the Rhode Island State Council of Churches and dozens of Rhode Island congregations as a unified show of our prayers, hope, and action to bring about peace in our world.
