All are welcome to join the Racial Equity Team for a visit to the Tomaquag Museum, 390 Summit Road, Exeter on Wednesday, August 19. The museum highlights indigenous peoples in Rhode Island, especially the Narragansett tribe. The visit will provide a perspective on the upcoming RET book group reading: The 1st Rhode Island Regiment in the American Revolution: From Slaves to Soldiers by Robert A. Geake with Loren M. Spears. The book will be available for purchase in the museum gift shop.
Plan on carpooling from the church parking lot at 9:30 am. If interested in a walk on the nearby Narragansett Trail, bring sturdy shoes and start from Yagoo Road in Exeter. Lunch options include the Middle of Nowhere Diner (and the Next to Nowhere Creamery) on Nooseneck Hill Road in Exeter. Expect to return to Newman early to mid-afternoon depending on your adventure.
