Hello friends,
The maypole streamers have been raised in Memorial Hall.
We’re ready for the May Breakfast tomorrow! A maypole is a colorful indication that summer is approaching. A maypole is also a festive symbol of community togetherness; although we each exist on our own strand, we are all connected to the same core hope, the same foundation of our being at the center.

The maypole is also a fitting symbol for Good Shepherd Sunday, which we’ll recognize this Sunday in worship. The scripture readings will remind us that Jesus is a “good shepherd,” who knows us, and cares for us, and keeps us together regardless of the dangers we face. The streamers of the maypole look like a safe shelter, covering us, holding us, anointing our heads.
We are a community with many good shepherds — taking care of each other, giving from what we have so that all of us might be uplifted. It makes me very grateful to be a part of this flock.
Looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow under the maypole streamers.
Traveling together,
Sam
