A Message from the Deacons

Curious about what deacons do in our church and how you can be involved?  We support all things relating to worship. Primary responsibilities are to line up lay readers, greeters, and those to take the collection.  Generally, on the first Sunday of the month, Deacons assist Rev. Sam with communion, including setup and cleanup. In addition, we keep the pews neat, light the candles, arrange for flowers (either through donations or “from the church garden”), and deliver Easter and Christmas flowers to shut-ins. Deacons also play a role in the sacrament of baptism.

Meetings are quarterly, with the next meeting after worship Sunday, August 16, to discuss services for September, October, and November. No climbing ladders, baking, or making crafts required, although we have fun decorating the church for Advent!

Be a friendly face, welcome all, and lend a hand to assure worship is smooth and meaningful. Please see Pam Sherrill, Pat Leahy, Helen Bodell, or Robin Hofheinz during Coffee and Conversation to learn more or join us on August 16th.
