(#3) Becoming Christians Bible Study

Readings for the discussion on April 4, 2025:

1. Read through the first eight pages of Rachel Held Evans’ Inspired Chapter 8.
   1. Interesting quote: “Most understand Paul’s language to the Corinthians to describe cultural customs, based on ancient views of gender roles, not universal truths.”
2. Read chapter 5 of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians: link. This is the Closing and Benediction of the letter; every one of Paul’s letters follows a similar pattern:
   1. Greeting 
   2. Thanksgiving (Paul gives thanks and mentions prayers for recipients)
   3. Exhortation (“I appeal to you…;” “I want you to know…”)
   4. Ethical instruction
   5. Closing and Benediction
