We are excited to announce a new fundraising opportunity for Newman called Scrip! The great thing about it is that there is nothing to sell, and you’re not spending any additional money on things you wouldn’t already be buying. Here’s how it works:
You purchase a gift card (“scrip”) from one of hundreds listed in the program. These include Shaw’s, Target, Amazon, American Girl, CVS, and many restaurants. Newman receives a commission (ranging from 1.5% to 30%) on the amount purchased. You only pay for the face value of the gift card.
For example, if I bought a Visa pre-paid gift card from Manna for $50, Newman would receive 2% ($1); if I bought a $25 gift card for L.L Bean from Manna, we would receive 18% ($4.50). So, if you grocery shop at Wal-Mart, Target, Shaw’s or Whole Foods, you can purchase gift cards to pay for your items when you check out, and you’re not spending any additional money than what you normally would.
Order forms will be available in Memorial Hall. To place an order, give your completed order form, along with a check made out to Newman UCC for the full amount, to Nancy Gage on Sunday following worship.
Your cards will be available for pick-up mid-week from the office, or the following Sunday after church.
We hope we can count on your participation!
